Del Mar - 8/10
| Race 1 | 1.Slew's Charm | 2.Haaay Sexy Lady | 3.Tatum's Gold |
#6 SLEW'S CHARM split the field in an open $100,000 stakes @ Los Al on their closing day, posting a number superior to those entered here. Additionally, this one has an "A" rating for her first start on the poly, and should be able to dust these. #2 HAAAY SEXY LADY also split the field in last, her debut. Cut the early splits that day, and should move up off that effort. #4 TATUM'S GOLD has encountered some traffic difficulties in first two starts, but posted decent numbers nonetheless. Gets blinkers today, and that just may help in getting her over the hump.
| Race 2 | 1. Toowindytohaulrox | 2.Home School ( IRE ) | 3.Celtic Moon |
#1 TOOWINDYTOHAULROX is my best bet of the day. #6 HOME SCHOOL ( IRE ) will be cutting the early fractions, for sure, but the issue has always been stamina---not speed ( as proven by his penchant for finishing 2nd and third ). Must include. #5 CELTIC MOON beat a field of 10 in his only try on the grass @ Hollywood 13 months ago, for some reason didn't race on the green stuff in next two outings before being shelved . May remember how much he liked it @ nice odds. Off Turf: 1-5-4-6-3
| Race 3 | 1.Fit to Rule | 2.Harlan's Vitesse | 3.Two is to Many |
#2 FIT TO RULE is a popular item at the claim box, having changed hands in 4 of last 5, and most recently ran 2nd to a runaway winner going 2 turns right here. Likes the course and likes the poly, so we like him. #1 HARLAN'S VITESSE drops to lowest level yet after 2 disappointing performances. Race 3 back was fair enough ( 71 ), and we'll throw in @ 10-1. #12 TWO IS TO MANY takes first go 'round on the poly today, and with his early speed and the 12 hole, there's a chance he can perform the "killer crossover" in this spot. A win and a second from 2 starts at this distance as well.
| Race 4 | 1.Raised a Secret | 2.Chief Lion | 3.My Samurai Warrior |
#8 RAISED A SECRET has been knock, knock, knocking on the door for his last 5 starts, having lost by just an average of 1.8 lengths in said races. Has a 3:1-1-1 ledger locally, and this game colt is definitely a 1-2-3 horse. #3 CHIEF LION returns off a 4+ month break, but ran 3 improved efforts over the synthetic last year, and Tyler should have this one forwardly placed early. #1 MY SAMURAI WARRIOR should be able to sneak in the back door for a minor spoil.
| Race 5 | 1.Criminal Element | 2.Diablo Caballero | 3.Fort Cady |
#6 CRIMINAL ELEMENT was a mite rank when debuting here 2 weeks ago, but nonetheless just lost by 4 @ 19-1 that day, and with the experience under his belt and a positive jockey switch, is definitely worth a looksie @ 8-1. #3 DIABLO CABALLERO has led at the halfway point in each of his 3 starts, but ended up fading in them. Two month break, however indicates that perhaps Kruljac is attempting to teach this one to be more rateable in the mornings. #2 FORT CADY threw on the blinkers, and improved his speed figure by 12 points in latest at 52-1. Woth inclusion in the exotics. BEATABLE FAVORITE : #10 HE'S ON HIS TOES regressed 16 points on the Beyer scale in 2nd start after a game effort behind 2 return winners in debut at Golden Gate. Was given 6+ months off since that effort, and faces tougher foes in return today. Not inclined to take 5-2 on this fella.
| Race 6 | 1.Wildcat Moon | 2.Ezio | 3.Too Fast to Pass |
#6 WILDCAT MOON was claimed by a sharp trainer off a sharp effort in last, and now returns to the level of that claim. Sheds 8 pounds from that day, and that may make all the difference in the world. #4 EZIO hasn't been seen since Christmas time, but any trepidation about the layoff is negated by the fact that this chap is a poly monster, boasting a 6:4-1-1 record over it. Huge threat if ready. #1 TOO FAST TO PASS hasn't raced on synthetic since an 11/30 win, but scorched a 46 1/5th's work right here a couple 'a weeks back and has a big chance back in with claimers today.
| Race 7 | 1.Mucho Blessings | 2.Maybelline | 3.Diva Express |
#9 MUCHO BLESSINGS is kinda in the same ballpark as our next two selections, Beyerwise, so why not go for a price ? After breaking slow, still rallied mildly to finish 4th at 43-1. Like the draw, as you know. #5 MAYBELLINE loses the hood after attempting to do one of the toughest things in the game---duel down and inside in debut. She finished 3rd that day, and was over 4 lengths clear of the rest. #4 DIVA EXPRESS finished ahead of the aforementioned 'belline, but drew a much better post that day, and is now inside of her nemesis today.
| Race 8 | 1.Miss Serendipity ( Arg ) | 2. Every Way | 3.Stormy Lucy |
Quarter of a million dollar John Mabee Stakes ( G-2 ) on tap, and we're not gonna try and reinvent the wheel here. The favorite is more than logical in our eyes. #6 MISS SERENDIPITY is classy, game, has superior speed figures, switches from Blanc to Bejarano off a win, ( which is humongoid ), and is 3 for 4 as the public choice, dating back to her Argentinian days. Hers to lose. #2 EVERY WAY doesn't need to bring her track with her, as this will be her 6th different venue from 8 starts, and most recently lost by just a half in a field of 14 @ Arlington Park ( Dig it, was there that day. ), and Stidham though enough of the effort to send her west. May be an overlay. #8 STORMY LUCY threw in a rare clunker in latest, but if you're benevolent enough to give her that race, fits very snugly with these. OFF TURF : 2-5-6-3-9
| Race 9 | 1.Juliet's Tizzy | 2.Broadcaster ( Ire ) | 3.Win Wish |
Finale to a profitable week for us here at Saratoga Bets, and we hope this column helped you to cash some tickets. #2 JULIET'S TIZZY, claimed from last, returns in same company after posting the highest last race Beyer. That was a big number ( for this group ), but even if she regresses, will still prove to be a top choice. #11 BROADCASTER ( IRE ) put up 2 big numbers when coming down the hill at Arcadia in the spring, but then flopped on the brown stuff. Switches over to the Chew barn, and this 10% trainer is a whopping 45% ( 5-11 ) with this type of L/O. Respect. #8 WIN WISH hasn't been seen in eons, but drops and adds blinkers, and you may not need more of an angle than that to hit the board w/this group.
